Join local historian and author Steven Horton for a walking tour around two of Liverpool’s most famous streets. Steven will tell you about some the people in Rodney Street who made such a significant contribution to world affairs, including renowned surgeons, politicians, writers and philanthropists.
In Hope Street, he’ll talk about some of the famous people who attended Liverpool Art College and the Liverpool Institute schools for girls and boys, the home of the architect of some of the city’s most famous buildings, and of the former uses of some of the grand houses there.
There’ll also be some crime stories too, including a man who got away with murder in the 1830s when the only witness disappeared and some men in the 1880s who were convicted of distributing sexually explicit material imported from France. The walk starts and finishes at the former St Andrews Church (Mount Pleasant end of Rodney Street) at 11am, advance booking only £4 per person.
Any cancellations prior to midnight on Friday 21st May 2021 will receive a refund, any on the day I will issue you a credit note for use on a future tour.
