Description

Join local historian and author Steven Horton of Liverpool Hidden History for a walk and talk of two of Liverpool”s most beautiful residential squares.
Starting in Falkner Square, he will describe how what was dismissed as a folly became one of the most desirable addresses of Liverpool, talking about some of the notable and notorious residents of this area, including a man dubbed ‘Stalins apologist’ and architects of some of Liverpool’s grandest buildings.
We will then walk down Chatham Street, taking in the Welsh Calvinistic Methodist Chapel towards Abercromby Square, once home to local philanthropists, financiers, bishops, war heroes, politicians, doctors and even a murderer.
Its then back down Chatham Street, telling of some notable residents there, and finishing with more tales from Falkner Square.
The tour lasts about 2 hours and costs £5 per person and is pre booking only limited to 10 people. The starting point is the pavilion in the middle of Falkner Square Gardens.
