Local historian and author Steven Horton will give a walking tour of Newsham Park and surrounding area at 2pm on Sunday 27th June 2021.

Steven will tell the history of the park, some of the events that have taken place there (including a visit by Buffalo Bill) and some of the residents of the large houses around the perimeter. These include Newsham House (Judges Lodging), where Queen Victoria once stayed and residences of senior local politicians and sportspeople. He will also talk about the huge Seamans Orphanage and have some dark tales from the Belmont pub and St Margarets Church.

The tour will start and finish from the park gates at the corner of Rocky Lane and Sheil Road. There is plenty of street parking on Judges Drive, Belmont Drive and Denman Drive.

The cost is £5 per adult, under 16s free. Either cash payment on the day or if you prefer contactless, by card on the registration link below. Any advance payments are fully refundable if you cannot make it.
